With the overnight rain the air today was very moist and cool.
We were up and on our way at 7am as the hotel breakfast service was not due to start until 7:30am.
As we left the hotel we passed an angry lady who had been waiting since 6:30am for the front door of the hotel to be opened. I wonder what happens in the vent of a fire??
The air was lovely and cool and we covered the first 6km to Azofra quite quickly as we were looking forward to coffee and fresh bread. The coffee was good however the cafe was still serving yesterdays bread which was moderately stale. The good side of this is that we would have eaten more if it was fresh!!
This was the first and last village for the day.
The track was wet and muddy in places due to the overnight rain but the air was crystal clear resulting in some really nice photos.
We saw the largest paddock of spinach that we have seen in our lives today as well as many more vineyards and crops, mostly wheat and barley.
In total the walk today was 21km and we completed this in just under 4.5 hours for an average daily pace (door to door) of 4.9 km/hour. This is the best pace we have achieved so far.
In Santo Domingo we are staying at the Paradores Hotel located next to the Cathedral. This is a very nice hotel and the lobby area where we are currently sitting is medieval looking with lots of stone and metal. The temperature is perfect.
