What a great sleep we had last night in Burgos.
We were in bed by 10pm and did not get up until 7am.
We then enjoyed a late breakfast and finally set off on our hike to Hornillos Del Camino at 8:30am.
The Hotel Melia where we stayed in Burgos was good.
Burgos was large and although we looked for some of our Camino friends we had no luck and ended up settling for a couple of pints of Murphys in two different Irish bars.
We then looked for a restaurant and finally settled for a small restaurant on the path back to our hotel. Food was basic but OK.
In the late afternoon in Burgos yesterday we had an intense hail storm that lasted for about 10 minutes.
During the storm the temperature dropped about 6 degrees.
It was also amazing to see how much the water level in the river through time came up during the storm.
After our late departure we saw very few Caminos on the road and it was not until we had been walking for 11km that we saw our first group.
It was actually peaceful walking with the road to ourselves.
The landscape here now is very dry and comprises nothing but never-ending fields of grain, mostly wheat and barley.
Not a lot to look at or take photos of.
The end of today's walk was supposed to be Hornillos Del Camino, but we booked a hotel in the neighbouring village of Isar which is about 3km north of the Camino.
Basically we had to walk 3km extra today and will have to walk back an extra 3km tomorrow to get to the starting point.
Notwithstanding this, the Hotel, the Consulta De Isar, is lovely with a large cool room and a decent bar/restaurant downstairs.
There is not a lot to do in Isar so we spent the afternoon relaxing.
Vicki's ankle was still sore today but with the ankle strap she was able to maintain a better step. This allowed us to walk the 20.6km to Hornillos in 3h59m for an average speed, door to door, of 5.2 km/hr. This is a new record pace for us.
We passed the 300km milestone today - 500km to go.
