Day -3 - Sydney Departure

Sydney Opera House from our room at the Marriott
After a weekend of rain in Sydney, today, our day of departure, is a beautiful sunny day.

We have completed our last minute shopping and are busy "wearing in" our new hiking shoes.

All of our accommodation for the trip is now confirmed and we have received our hotel and meal vouchers. We also remembered that we did not have a cork screw, so we brought that.

We still need to find a rock, to take from our homeland and leave at the foot of the cross at Cruz de Ferro. This tradition is meant to ensure your safe arrival at Santiago de Compostela.

We are basically "good to go" and have started reviewing our planned route in more details - see left.

Most of the days look OK and the distance and elevations are not dissimilar to walking from our house to the local shopping mall and back (which we do reasonably often).

We are however concerned about the first day, a 26 kilometer hike up and over the Pyrenees - up 1,200 metres and down 400 metres - see elevation to the right.

Next stop Paris...
