What a long hot days walking!!
28km from Logrono to Najera.
We set off at 7:30am after one of the better breakfasts that we have seen so far (they actually had cereal).
The 28km walk took 5'50" and passed very few villages (therefore very few long stops). We were therefore able to match our previous best pace of 4.8 km/hour.
Vicki walked and talked for a long time with a young girl from Canada who had just finished her first degree in Sexology and was getting ready to do her masters. The young girl did not know why she was doing it but said there was a huge need for sexologists in Canada (come on you guys!).
We passed the Big Bull. Apparently you see this photo a lot on postcards.
The day was very hot and for the first time we used most of our water (half litre left when we finished). A lot of people said that they ran out of water.
The skyline was very hazy and some of the landscape photos did not look that flash.
We checked into the Duques de Najera Hotel which was a nice old building that was very cool inside. So cool that when we lay down after a shower, we did not get up again till 6pm.
When we got up we found that it had been raining. As a result the streets were deserted. We went out and found a really nice bar (La Fabrica) and tried several local Riojas.
Lovely dinner last night at a very small street cafe followed by our best nights sleep so far.
With all the walking and sleeping and drinking, we did not get a chance to sort out the WIFI yesterday and update the blog. Sorry!
We have now passed the first 200km mark.
