Day 1 - Arrival in St Jean Pied de Port by Train

Finally, we are off.

Train to Bordeaux, Train to Bayonne, and then a train to Pied de Porte. Every single train left and arrived on time - to the second. In a small way this makes up for the fact that the whole ticketing system was down when we first arrived at the Montparnasse train station in Paris first thing in the morning.

St Jean Pied de Porte is lovely and Vicki wished she could buy some of the colorful materials to take home. No this trip.

Lots of people arriving to walk the Camino. They all seemed half our age though and ten times fitter. We chatted to a young lady from Toronto (whose sister used to go to the same camp in Canada that our kids are at) and she said that this would be her second Camino. She also told us that we will be arriving in Pamplona during the running of the bulls festival.

Dinner was great and we were in bed, asleep before sunset.
