Only 18km today but it was tough.
It was hot!!!
There was no tree cover or shade.
My (Peter's) feet hurt due to blisters on heel.
Most of the path consisted of coarse river stone impregnated in baked clay that was scarred with tyre ruts (bikes, Cars and tractors). As a result our heels were constantly rotating in our shoes. Ouch!!!
As a result Peter (me) was cranky!!
This did not matter as during the trip we passed a point (on the hill crest with the windmills), where, if you passed this point, all you sins were absolved and you would go to heaven if you subsequently died.
We knocked off the trip in 4.75 hours and checked into the Hotel Jakue.
This place is fantastic. A combined hostel and hotel with a great bar and restaurant. There was also a laundry so we were able to catch up on washing.
The town is also wonderful with lots of interesting shops and great buildings.
Today we went through many villages and were impressed with the overall orderliness and cleanliness.
We continue to meet lots of wonderful people and tonight had dinner with a really nice Irish couple (about our ages) who previously lived in Australia.
Tomorrow we have to walk 21km to Estella and, as we expect another hot day, we will try to head off early - but after breakfast, of course!!
